Digital Marketing For Your Pediatric Practice, Part 2: Creating a Better Website

BARQAR recently presented their first webinar of 2021, highlighting how to use digital marketing to grow your pediatric practice.

If you weren’t able to catch the full webinar, you’re in luck, as this ongoing series will break down what we covered in our hour-long session.

The first post was an introduction to how patients find your practice. If you haven’t read it yet, we recommend doing so first:

Digital Marketing For Your Pediatric Practice, Part 1: Understanding Your Patients

Creating a Better Website

Think for a moment about what you want out of your waiting room -it should be clean, modern, organized and welcoming.

Why would your website be any different?

As your virtual waiting room, it’s often the first interaction a new patient has with your practice; therefore, their first impression of you is based on what they can find on the web.

Make sure that impression is positive by focusing on two key aspects: simple navigation and strong messaging.

Simple Navigation

Your website should be a place where your patients can quickly and easily find the information they need.

While drop-downs and eye-catching graphics are ok in some cases, don’t bury your relevant content in pages and pages of extras.

Page-wise, here’s what we recommend:

  • About – what is your practice’s story? What are your values?
  • Physicians/Office Staff – build trust before your patient even walks through the door.
  • Contact Information/Hours – keep this information comprehensive and up to date.
  • Patient Portal – make it easy for your patients and their families to book appointments, request refills, etc.
  • Resources – be more than an office brochure! Patients and their families have questions; find ways to provide the answers.

Strong Messaging

Are your office hours incredibly convenient? Show us!

Do you have a staff member who’s published in medical journals? Share their research!

Every licensed pediatrician has been to medical school, so tell your patients about more than just their credentials.

Extend this idea to your office staff as well – the goal is to have new patients feel comfortable before they visit; knowing whose faces they’ll see will contribute.

Give your website personality by highlighting what makes your practice unique. Combined with good functionality, you’ll convey how easy it is to be a patient of your practice.

Now that we’ve covered the bones of your pediatric website, the next posts in this series will dive into creating great content.
